Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season are included.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the premier party of heroes who will separate from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem out of place, but the developments of the third episode show why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
First, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his personal gain, entering the secret base, striking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each member has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as key figures in the powerful family could enable the group access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to head to the remote area in search of the traitor.
